To search for a Landowner, click "Landowner" at the top of the Search Menu. To search for a location, click "Location" at the top of the Search Menu. Location: search for latitude and longitude coordinates (decimal format recommended), cities and towns, geographic features and street addresses.If a landowner has a common name, or owns a large number of properties, narrow your search results by entering the county where the property is located after the landowner's name in your search.Ĭlick inside the Search bar at the top of the screen. Center of Site Latitude/Longitude: Based on the Geographic Coordinate. To go to a specific property, click Go to TRS on the Go menu, and enter the Section, Township, and Range into the Find TRS dialog. Converting Latitude and Longitude to Carter. This 5-minute Carter section is roughly equivalent to a township. The spacing of the Carter coordinate grid is 5 minutes of longitude by 5 minutes of latitude. To use ExpertGPS as a moving map display, you’d use the Tracking feature, which polls your GPS receiver or antenna once every second and updates your location on the maps displayed on your laptop’s screen. The township and range land grid system had not been invented in 1792. When run on a laptop in your vehicle and attached to a low-cost GPS receiver or GPS “mouse” antenna, ExpertGPS can function as a moving-map display, essentially turning your laptop into a full GPS receiver with a huge screen and full keyboard. However, ExpertGPS Pro now has the ability to display Public Land Survey System (PLSS) coordinates in Township, Section, and Range format. I don’t know of any handheld GPS receiver which can display Section, Township, and Range coordinates instead of latitude and longitude or UTM. Option 1: Each section of land has a black dot located in the middle of the section. This dataset consists of the Township, Range and Section grid lines. You’ll need to know the correct meridian for the TRS section. Convert Township, Range, and Section to Latitude and Longitude This utility has Conversion of section-township-range to latitude-longitude - a computer. The TRS-data site at Montana State University lets you enter PLSS data (Township, Range, Section, TRS) for one of 17 western US states (AR, AZ, CA, CO, ID, KS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OK, OR, SD, UT, WA and WY), and get back the latitude/longitude for the center of that section. We want to have the handheld screen to be a topo map that shows Section, Township and Ranges not the usual Long/Lat. We use Magellan Explorist XLs and have one Magellan Mobile Mapper 6. We are rural real estate appraisers in Montana.
